RUH KHUS
RUH KHUS
Ruh Khus — روح خس — Pure Vetiver Attar · Soul of Vetiver
Before air conditioning existed in India, there was khus. Woven into screens and matting, suspended over windows so the hot summer wind would pass through and cool — the evaporating moisture carrying with it that unmistakable earthy, grassy scent. Vetiver root has been a part of Indian life for at least 3,000 years, written into Ayurvedic texts as a cooling, calming medicine and fragrance.
Chrysopogon zizanioides — vetiver — is cultivated in the alluvial plains of Kannauj and neighbouring districts. The roots take a full three years to develop the aromatic compounds that produce quality oil. After harvest, they are washed, dried, and steam-distilled using the traditional deg-bhapka method. The resulting oil is thick, rich, and deeply smoky — entirely unlike the cleaned-up vetiver used in Western perfumery.
RUH KHUS smells like the first monsoon rain on dry earth. Smoky and green and entirely real. Not sweet. Not synthetic. The opposite of every generic perfume you've ever worn.

How to Wear
RUH KHUS is India's classic summer attar, traditionally applied to cool the body. Apply to pulse points in the afternoon — the body heat activates the cooling earthiness. It opens slowly and gets better over hours. Best worn with restraint; one drop is enough. On dry skin it reads more smoky; on warm skin it turns more earthy and green. A single drop lasts 8–12 hours.
Why Pure Attar
Conventional perfumes are 70–80% alcohol. Pure attar has no alcohol — only concentrated botanical oil. It emanates from your skin, not off it. Closer, longer, entirely yours.
100% pure botanical oil · Alcohol-free · No synthetics · Vegan · Cruelty-free · Distilled in Kannauj, India
