To produce one tola (approximately 11.6g) of pure Ruh Gulab, you need roughly 600 kilograms of fresh damask rose petals. The petals must be harvested before sunrise, when the essential oil content is at its peak. By noon, a significant portion has already evaporated into the morning air.
What remains after steam distillation is one of the most labour-intensive fragrance materials in existence. Not a rose accord. Not a synthetic approximation. The actual oil of the actual flower, concentrated and pure.
On skin, Ruh Gulab opens with a burst of fresh petals, then deepens into a warm, honeyed rose heart. The dry-down is soft, powdery, and intimate — the kind of rose that feels like skin, not like a bouquet.
